Band Close-Grip Push-Up
The band close-grip push-up is a band exercise that targets the triceps, with the chest and shoulders assisting.
How to do the band close-grip push-up
- Place a band around your upper arms, just above the elbows.
- Assume a push-up position with your hands directly under your shoulders and your body in a straight line from head to heels.
- Bend your elbows and lower your chest towards the ground, keeping your elbows close to your sides.
- Push through your palms to extend your arms and return to the starting position.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Sets and reps
Start with 3 sets of 10–15 reps, resting 45–60 seconds. When every set feels easy, add reps, slow the lowering phase or move to a harder variation.
Muscles worked
The main muscle is the triceps. The chest and shoulders work as secondary muscles. See all triceps exercises or every resistance band exercise.
