Cable Seated Twist
The cable seated twist is a cable exercise that targets the abs, with the obliques assisting.
How to do the cable seated twist
- Sit on a cable machine with your feet flat on the ground and your knees slightly bent.
- Hold the cable handle with both hands and extend your arms straight in front of you.
- Keeping your core engaged, slowly rotate your torso to one side, pulling the cable across your body.
- Pause for a moment at the end of the range of motion, then slowly rotate back to the starting position.
- Repeat on the other side.
- Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions.
Sets and reps
For muscle growth, 3–4 sets of 8–12 reps with 60–90 seconds of rest is a proven starting point. For strength, use a heavier weight for 3–5 sets of 3–6 reps and rest 2–3 minutes. Add a little weight once you hit the top of your rep range on every set.
Muscles worked
The main muscle is the abs. The obliques work as secondary muscles. See all ab exercises or every cable exercise.
