How to do the incline twisting sit-up
- Set up an incline bench at a 45-degree angle.
- Lie down on the bench with your feet secured under the foot pads.
- Place your hands behind your head or across your chest.
- Engage your abs and lift your upper body off the bench, curling forward.
- As you curl up, twist your torso to one side, bringing your elbow towards the opposite knee.
- Pause for a moment at the top, then slowly lower your upper body back down to the starting position.
- Repeat the movement, this time twisting your torso to the other side.
- Continue alternating sides for the desired number of repetitions.
Sets and reps
Start with 3 sets of 10–15 reps, resting 45–60 seconds. When every set feels easy, add reps, slow the lowering phase or move to a harder variation.
Muscles worked
The main muscle is the abs. The obliques work as secondary muscles. See all ab exercises or every bodyweight exercise.
