Standing Lateral Stretch
The standing lateral stretch is a bodyweight exercise that targets the lats, with the shoulders and obliques assisting.

How to do the standing lateral stretch
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
- Extend your arms straight out to the sides, parallel to the ground.
- Slowly lean your upper body to one side, feeling a stretch in your side and lats.
- Hold the stretch for 15-30 seconds.
- Return to the starting position and repeat on the other side.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Sets and reps
Hold each stretch for 20–40 seconds, breathing slowly, and repeat 2–3 times per side. Stretch to mild tension, never pain.
