Roller Reverse Crunch
The roller reverse crunch is a roller exercise that targets the abs, with the hip flexors assisting.
How to do the roller reverse crunch
- Lie flat on your back with your arms extended straight above your head and your legs straight out in front of you.
- Place the roller between your feet and grip it with your toes.
- Engaging your abs, lift your legs off the ground and curl your knees towards your chest, rolling the roller towards your body.
- Pause for a moment at the top, then slowly lower your legs back down to the starting position, rolling the roller away from your body.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Sets and reps
For muscle growth, 3–4 sets of 8–12 reps with 60–90 seconds of rest is a proven starting point. For strength, use a heavier weight for 3–5 sets of 3–6 reps and rest 2–3 minutes. Add a little weight once you hit the top of your rep range on every set.
Muscles worked
The main muscle is the abs. The hip flexors work as secondary muscles. See all ab exercises or every foam roller exercise.
