Band Bench Press
The band bench press is a band exercise that targets the chest (pectorals), with the triceps and shoulders assisting.
How to do the band bench press
- Lie flat on a bench with your feet flat on the ground and your back pressed against the bench.
- Grasp the band handles with an overhand grip, slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
- Extend your arms fully, pushing the bands away from your chest.
- Slowly lower the bands back down to your chest, keeping your elbows at a 90-degree angle.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
Sets and reps
Start with 3 sets of 10–15 reps, resting 45–60 seconds. When every set feels easy, add reps, slow the lowering phase or move to a harder variation.
Muscles worked
The main muscle is the chest (pectorals). The triceps and shoulders work as secondary muscles. See all chest exercises or every resistance band exercise.
